Call for Teaching Artists

Teacher helps students with a classroom activity.

About Live Coal

Live Coal is a Detroit-based nonprofit and home of The RED Children’s Art Museum & Gallery, transforming lives and neighborhoods through art and education. • Prepare, set up, and restore the teaching space for each session.
  • Offer accessible adaptations so students of varied abilities and needs can participate fully.
  • Introduce culturally relevant art history, artists, or processes that connect to each lesson.
  • Provide instruction in a range of media, consistent with Live Coal's materials and supplies standards, reviewed before each assignment.
  • Direct the in-session support of a Teaching Artist Assistant when one is assigned to the program.
